Minh Ky Restaurant Reviews
Food was good (chicken, egg noodle soup) was comforting, freshly made. Service was awesome, server was welcoming and friendly. Love her !! And she gave us candy to go Ambiance was warm and welcoming. Definitely a place to dry by on a cold rainy day.
This noodle house is likely the oldest in San Diego. While parking can be a bit tricky, it's important to avoid the back lot, as it belongs to a different business. Unfortunately, there was a minor mistake with our order. I requested dry noodles, but received soup instead. Perhaps there was a mix-up with my uncle's order. My soup was good, but I've had better in Northern California. My uncle suggested I should have ordered the roasted chicken or tender duck. I'll definitely return to try those next time. Despite being busy, the staff worked diligently to clean tables promptly. I'm eager to come back and explore more of the menu.
The Roast Duck Egg Noodles #6 are so good! I ordered them dry which comes with a light slightly sweet umami sauce, garlic chives and a side of chicken broth soup. If you're coming to Minh Ky this is what you want to order. Their duck is seasoned perfectly and is moist, juicy and generously portioned. We also ordered #9 the Duck Leg Egg Noodle Soup which is a dark sweet broth with a big ol duck leg. This was good but the broth was a little too sweet for my liking. The shrimp egg rolls were good meaty and crunchy and I also recommend ordering the Chinese donuts!
Honestly, wow! Came here with my date on accident as we didn't realize the place we were originally going to go to was already closed for the day. It was a really nice surprise! The menu has a lot of items on it. So instead of looking through it, my date and I decided to just get what another table had gotten because it looked really good. It ended up being: - Combination Chow Fun: This was my favorite menu item we got. There was soo much food, it was insane! Every type of meat and all the veggies were perfectly cooked and seasoned in every bite. Even with a lot of ingredients, all the flavors worked very well together and it was amazing with the noodles they give. - Dumpling & Wonton Soup with egg noodle: Apparently they are known for their soup, but I was pretty disappointed by it. There wasn't much flavor to it and I did not like the egg noodle with it whatsoever. Rice noodles would've been a much better option. - Fresh Beef Diced Steak: First dish to come out and it was soo good! The steak was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. The leftover sauce was amazing on the rice as well. The only disappointment was the vegetables it came with. There was way too much onion and the tomato slices and lettuce didn't add anything to the dish and confused us as to why they were even there. Service was speedy and the portion sizes were huge! I will definitely be coming back here as the food is well worth the price!
I cannot get enough of this place. I have been here for years with my parents since I was little and it really hasn't changed a bit. Food still delicious, customer service is great. They are always so friendly as if we were all family. I also get my go to which is the wonton dumpling soup with egg noodles. I've tried the noodles with duck and noodles with crispy chicken... all amazing and you really can't go wrong with any item on the menu. I love that they serve pickled papaya, crispy pork belly bits and Chinese donuts on the side. You do have to ask for it and I believe there is a charge but it's freakin amazing. Definitely a must when you eat here. Can't wait for my next trip back.
